This bizarre landscape is in New Mexico - 30 miles south of Farmington.
The wide valley is accessible only in dry weather,
it offers many photogenic rock formations, which sometimes remind of animal shapes.

There is no trail - explorer's spirit is required - GPS is very useful!
We spent 3 days in the different parts!

Bisti Wilderness North Area

From Farminton take the 371 south, after 29 mi turn left onto Road 7290.
There is a big sign - meaning: no access to the bistis!
Ignore this sign and drive in. 4WD is not required.
After 4 mi turn left around the hill to a fence.
 Follow this to the right - approx. 500 ft - park at the small wash there.

2. trailhead/parking:  N36°16'44.1" - W108°15'08.2"
3. first hoodoo group: N36°16'44.2" - W108°14'31.2"
4. Stone Wings: N36°16'45.1" - W108°14'14.2"
5. white hoodoos: N36°16'33,2" - W108°13'47,1"
6. hoodoo on hill: N36°16'24.8" - W108°14'17.8"

Bisti Wilderness South Area

From Farminton, take 371 south, after a good 36 mi (MM 71).
left onto dirt road 7297. 4WD is not required.
After about 2 mi go left - after about 1 mi park on right.
Length of hike (round trip): 4.5 mi - 450 vertical ft.

1. fork off Hwy.371 to left:  N36°13'55.1" - W108°16'16.5"
2. fork after 2 mi to the left:  N36°14'53.5" - W108°14'38.0"
3. trailhead (new): N36°15'33.4" - W108°15'04.9"
4. hoodoo group in the side valley: N36°15'34.2" - W108°14'18.1"
5. second hoodoo group: N36°15'46.3" - W108°14'07.9"
6. Bisti Arch: N36°16'07.2" - W108°13'34.1"
8. cracked eggs: N36°16'02.1" - W108°13'26.2"
9. Eagels Nest: N36°16'09,1" - W108°12'44,2"
If only the Eggs are to be visited,
go from the trailhead always along the dry wash
650 ft before the Eggs and turn right to Pos. 7.
